Pipe Band Association Singapore
SOLO PIPING and DRUMMING
In
2014, each player will be required to play two Elements at each level. Both
Elements will be played on the same visit to the platform, except for A and B
Grades. Once players have completed Element 1, they will re-tune (Pipers) and
play Element 2 without leaving the platform. (In A and B Grades the player will
leave the platform after element 1 and return in rotation with other
competitors).
As
a courtesy to the Judge/s, all players must first approach the table to inform
the Judge of their tunes selection before they strike up to tune and play.
PIPERS
TUNING Players in Novice & D Grade only, can elect to be tuned,
by a tutor, on the platform before the commencement of each element.
Players
in C, B and A Grade must approach the platform alone and are required to show
some level of ability in tuning their own bagpipes. This may be taken into
account by the judge, if deemed necessary.
If you
strike up to play Element 1 and your pipes are in tune and settled and you
decide to play this is fine! If your drones are out and you do not make any
attempt to correct them then this could be taken into account. This also
applies to tuning for Element 2.
PROTOCOL
On
presenting to the Adjudicator and after the first Element, a period of two
minutes will be allowed for final tuning. On completion of two minutes the
Adjudicator may ask the player to proceed. If the player cannot proceed, he/she
must vacate the platform.
